A taste of Singapore in Megamall

Hello Singaporean food fans out there, earlier last week, I instantly experience a taste of Singapore again after eating at Orchard Road located at the 2nd floor of Megamall, Ortigas.  It was one great experience trying out each of everyone’s food in their menu. I ordered this three in the picture because I’m already familiar with them except that I didn’t had the chance to taste them back in 2008 and 2010. It was funny cause one blogger got surprised when he tasted the Laksa (known for it’s spicy yet delicious taste, good for people who has a big appetite)

The best food that I enjoy most was the Hiananese Chicken Rice that was serve with three sauces (Peanut sauce, Ginger Sauce, Chili Sauce). What make’s this on top of my food list is it’s distinctive chicken taste each time you chew a spoonful of rice. I think it’s not about the chicken that makes it a hit but it’s in the preparation of the rice itself.

Second on my list that caught my attention is the Ice Kachang that was ordered by other blogger that shared the table. It’s presentation is colorful, I can see on the side tidbits of corn kernels, I didn’t had the chance to observe and rotate this mouth watering dessert cause the owner was busy taking photos, so I took a snap of it just to be productive.

The dessert that I had was the Red Ruby & Sagu Gula Melaka which only cost 85PHP only, if I remember it correctly the red tidbits that we see in the picture are what they call, water chestnuts. It’s texture whenever I munch on it is similar to a Jicama or commonly known as singkamas.

At first, I thought this was a Piaya a local sweet biscuit from the province of Ilocos but this one is different, Singaporeans call this a Roti Pratha, the taste of the bread or dough alone wont be satisfying for filipinos, you have to dip to it’s chili dip to appreciate it’s taste.

The best part of the restaurant for me is the dessert section, cause you can choose which goes in your dessert and which one stays, it’s like our local halo halo preparation, difference is that it doesn’t have milk added to it cause the main ingredients making it sweet are the fresh fruits and colored syrup added to it.

To top it all, the overall place is well ventilated and soothing for my eyes, they have couches and wooden tables, their place is well lit with yellow bulbs decorated with some sort of paper and wooden ball cover. The place is relaxing and the foods are delicious, it’s really a piece of Singapore in the center of Manila.
