CVA-stands for cerebrovascular accident, meaning the supply of the blood are s interrupted due to certain reasons. (1) There are blockages in certain arteries either by air or blood clot, (2) The artery weakened and then burst causing a pooling of blood in a certain part, (3) Stroke which has a numbers or risk factors, this may include, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, increasing in age and obesity.

Signs and symptoms:
Sometimes a person may not know that he had already a stroke but commonly people who experience stroke experience also the following:
• Starts suddenly and may be severe
• Wakes up from sleep
• It occurs during lying flat
• Get’s worse when you bend, cough and shift into another position
• Numbing of the left arm or one side of the body
• Having problems talking and understanding the person talking to
• Changes in all senses
• Level of consciousness changes
• Confusion or loss of memory
• Difficulty swallowing
• Difficulty writing or reading
• Loss of coordination and balance
• Clumsiness
• Dizziness or abnormal sensation of movement (vertigo)
• Lack of control over the bladder or bowels
Laboratory exams that should be done
• Citiscan
• MRI
• MRA
• CBC
Treatment
Stroke is an emergency case, the sooner treatment is applied the less complication the patient will endure. Physical therapist are also necessary to assist in the restoration of the range of motion. Clot dissolvers are prescribe to have this to prevent further more clots.
