FORMER GIRLFRIEND OF FACEBOOK MURDER SUSPECT SPEAKS OUT; HUGS AND CRIES WITH VICTIM’S FAMILY

While the world watched desperately as police searched for Steve Stephens, who murdered an elderly man and then posted it on Facebook, his former girlfriend, Joy Lane is finally speaking out.

Lane spoke exclusively with Fox 8 Cleveland and opened up about what her life’s been like since her ex went crazy.

“The hashtags Joy Lane, Joy Lane massacre, I don’t even know who Joy Lane is anymore, or how to pick up all the pieces of my world at this moment,” Lane said. “I’ve got a lot of negative comments. Some even said he should have killed me.”

She said she’s received a lot of support from family and friends and even two of the daughter’s of the murder victim, Robert Godwin, Sr.

Robert’s family told Fox 8 that they don’t blame Joy for her ex’s actions and wanted to hug her. They all met up on Tuesday morning and started to get the closure they needed.

“The three hugged, cried, and prayed.”

“I feel bad; the last thing he would have said is my name and he didn’t know me or why he was saying,” Lane told the sisters.
