Teens found dead inside Clayton County home
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Clayton County students are in class after learning about the deaths of two classmates.
The two teenagers, 15 and 16 years old, were found shot to death inside a Clayton County home.
"They both suffered gunshot wounds. That is the apparent cause of their death but it’s under investigation pending the GBI’s determination," Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.
Samaya Copeland’s dad said she loved her family and friends especially her sisters and brothers and always had a smile on her face.
Her parents said she was a bit of a fashionista with a great love for her family.
Clayton County police responded to a home on Montego Circle in Riverdale around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Police say a 15-year-old boy who lived at the home was found shot to death alongside Copeland, who police said was his former girlfriend. Clayton County detectives called the GBI to conduct the autopsy and will wait until that's complete before ruling it a murder-suicide. The father of the female victim told us the last time his daughter was seen alive was sixth period at Riverdale High School Monday afternoon.
Crisis counselors will be at Riverdale High School all day to help students and staff deal with grief.
