Car Buying Trends

Posted by ethaninosente on April 19, 2012 in Undecided

The last few years have been difficult for the UK economy, and this has had a big impact on the motor industry. Consumers are becoming more and more cautious, and are thinking carefully about running costs, insurance, and other issues beyond just the up-front cost of the car that they are buying.

In 2011, the number of private individuals registering new cars fell.  Businesses are still investing in new vehicles, including low emissions vehicles and hybrids, but individuals are reluctant to purchase new vehicles. The decrease in the number of new vehicles entering the market has had a knock-on effect on the used car industry, reducing the supply for that industry, and increasing the prices of car valuations for high quality, modern used vehicles.

Scrappage Scheme a Success

While things seem bleak for the motor industry at the moment, the government’s Scrappage Scheme, which offered consumers £2,000 off the cost of a new car if they scrap their old one, has been a success.  The scheme was introduced in 2009, and brought the industry out of the worst slump it had faced since the 1980s.

In the years after the introduction of the scrappage scheme, the British car industry finally saw growth, with sales of cars made in the UK increasing by 26.4% between February 2009 and 2010. Sales of small, low-cost vehicles by foreign manufacturers such as Kia and Hyundai have also increased, as those on a tight budget consider opting for low cost new vehicles instead of used cars.

This is good news for the environment, as these small, new vehicles tend to be fuel efficient and produce low emissions.

Recovery for the Used Car Market Forecast

While consumer interest in used cars has been depressed over the last four years, there are signs that interest could recover in tandem with the economy.  Some price conscious consumers are still buying used cars and using private plates to disguise the age of the vehicle. A recent report by Trend Tracker indicated that in 2011 the used car market was worth £36.6 billion.  This might sound like a lot of activity, but if you take into account inflation, the value of the used car market has fallen by 18% since 2001.

The Office for Budget Responsibility believes that the UK economy will see a slow but sustained recovery over the next few years.  If this occurs, then it’s likely that sales of both new and used cars will increase.  A growing market for new cars will hopefully drive down the prices of used vehicles.

Energy Efficiency is in Demand

Last year, ‘B’ segment super minis accounted for 31% of used vehicle volume, indicating that people are interested in low fuel consumption, low emission vehicles.  However, the market is not yet ready for hybrid or electric vehicles.

Government subsidies have done little to bolster sales of electric vehicles.  As of October 2011, the number of electric vehicles registered in the UK stood at just 1,107 – out of more than 28million cars on the road. It appears that low emissions and hybrids will account for most of the cleaning up of our country’s emissions for a long time to come.

A Collection of Ways to Save Money

Posted by ethaninosente on March 6, 2012 in Undecided

A family budget includes many items. Mortgage payments, food, utilities, gas, and clothing are just a few examples. Over 50 life insurance should be another item worked into a family’s budget. In the event that the breadwinner of a family passes on, the other members should be protected financially. Over 50 life insurance must have a place in a family’s budget in order for family members to enjoy a sense of security. Once family members settle on a complete household budget, they often come up with some effective ways to save money. Gathering coupons and shopping for a particular item only when it goes on sale are two examples of common money-saving practices. Not surprisingly, some people take money saving practices to the extreme. Read on to learn some of the helpful (and outlandish) ways that people save money.

1.Wash and reuse pieces of aluminum foil.
2.After a stay at a hotel, take the used bars of soap to restock the supply at home.
3.Write letters to friends on paper that has writing on the opposite side. It could be an old grocery list or a to-do list from five years ago.
4.Leave the car out in the rain to wash it instead of taking it to a car wash.
5.After a hotel stay, take home the partially used shampoo bottles. These can serve as the home supply of shampoo.
6.Never buy any books, CDs or DVDs. Go to the library and check any of those items out for free.
7.Walk to the electric company to hand deliver the monthly payment.
8.Wash and reuse garbage bags instead of purchasing new ones.
9.Instead of taking the kids to a fun amusement park for the day take them to the local playground to play.
10.Draw pictures of family members instead of getting photographs done at a professional photographer studio.
11.When it is raining, set the dirty dishes out on the patio and pour some dish soap on them to get them clean.
12.If a child asks for a pet dog, give him or her a picture of dog instead.
13.Take home the partially used ketchup and mustard packets from a fast food restaurant meal and squeeze them into plastic bottles. These can serve as the family’s supply of ketchup and mustard.
14.Go to the library to look at magazines and newspapers instead of buying them.
15.Don’t ever buy new picture frames. Use old frames to display pictures and change the pictures every few months.
16.Women, while trying on shoes at the shoe store use the stocking footies that are provided by the store. Then, take the pair home and add it to your collection of hosiery.
17.When the wick of a candle is no longer useable take the leftover candle wax and put it into a new container. By adding more wax to it and a wick, a new candle can be created from several old ones.
18.When a child grows out of piece of clothing such as a stained t-shirt or a torn pair of shorts, cut them up and use them as dust rags.
19.Put a bicycle in the trunk of your car and drive halfway to work. Then, get the bicycle out to ride the rest of the way to work to save on gas expenses.

Window Shopping at Deals Direct

Posted by ethaninosente on October 25, 2011 in Technology

My newly acquired digital camera gave up on me just after a few weeks of using it. So now I hardly have the chance to practice my craft of photography. I’ve search all possible places here in Manila to fix the darn thing but I realize it will be more practical compared to buy a new one.

So I went online to look for the best deals for DSLR’s and I also needed to look for digital radios online for my mom anyway so that’s 2 birds in one stone. I luckily found  the things I need at Deals direct. Deals direct has everything that I need when it comes to electronic gadgets and cameras.

I know there are many other sites similar to this but this is the first site that was recommended by my friends in the blogging industry. I really feel relieve knowing that there are still quality sites like this and I highly recommend it to you guys who also likes a very good deal especially when it comes gadgets and appliances.

Accident in a Gawad Kalinga of Telus

Posted by ethaninosente on September 11, 2011 in Personal

I was in Gawad Kalinga yesterday doing charity work like the usual things I do to help the needy like building/ painting a house or cementing of the walls. Going back, me and my batch mates were assign in moving hollow blocks, it was one of the chores that we can only do to help besides from cementing, painting and hammering. For us it was really a lite job, passing one hollow block to another, we can even afford to pose and smile in pictures now and then when the photographer asks us to, hehe neat right?

Me and my best buddy was the first one on-line, our basic task was just grab the blocks then pass it to the person behind us, it was just a simple chore that even a 5th grader can do, the trick was just finish the first column then on with the next one. It was really like child’s play for us but for some reason a faith played tricks on me in my most unexpected situations.

In my case, it was the moment when I bended to pick up the last block on the floor when suddenly, two blocks fell off to my head and break. Everyone was surprise that time including me, it was so unexpected the only thing that I was able to do is stare at him hoping that he’ll tell me what just happend. I looked at my other friend’s face as they run towards my direction when all of a sudden, my world starts to spin then blacked out. I didn’t see stars that time but I can hear them panicing. I felt their hands brushing against my hair and my back and no later than 2 seconds, I was able to open my eyes then stand as if nothing bad happend, but seriously that moment, it was all question marks running over my head. Ahehe what an awkward moment, then my manager walk me to the first aide and ask me to rest until the charity event finishes, they said they’ve been doing this for quite sometime and it was the first time that they had a casualty.

It was really a something that time but at the end of the day we ended up celebrating the success of our advocacy for the day, it was tiring indeed but for sure everyone felt fulfilled. I also thank god for assuring that I was not hurt badly in the accident, I didn’t know that god had an appointment with me that time, but still thank you my lord for that reality check you just gave me. It was all fun and laughter helping out the needy but I’m not sure if they will still feel the same the next day once their muscles starts to ache hehe.

Blogger’s Blowout Best Giveaway Ever!

Posted by ethaninosente on September 6, 2011 in Undecided

I got a blue ray copy of my favorite movie in Orange Magazine TV and Astroplus’s 1st BLOGGERS’ BLOWOUT at Astrovision store in Greenbelt 5, Ayala last september 3. Thank you so much Orange Magazine TV for this early christmas gift I really appreciate it specially to the major sponsors of the event. I’m in the Movies category that started a little behind schedule but it’s okay, they’re already serving food to keep me calm and busy hehehe.

I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence or it’s a great timing because earlier that day, me and my trainers were talking about the ending of Resident Evil: afterlife franchise. During the middle of last part of the credits there was a brief video clip showing a new villain leading a swarm of helicopter into battle against Milla Jovovich and her team. I later realize that it was ex-STAR member Jill Valentines (Actress Sienna Guillory) under the control of the spider, at first I didn’t believe my trainers that it was her cause she was blonde and Jill was a brunet in second franchise but who cares! the story is getting better and better, rumors say that the RE5 will be revolving to fan’s feedback and tweets and they will try to include other characters from the videogame. I really can’t say much now cause everything are still rumors but definitely actress Sienna G. already tweeted that she already started training for RE5.

And with all of this, I want to return my very big thanks and gratitude to to Astroplus / Astrovision especially to Ms. Katherine Choy and Mr. Jimmy Lim for partnering with Orange Magazine TV for this event. without you guys, I wouldn’t have a Blue Ray copy of my favorite movie!

Hanging out with Mr Jeman V.

Posted by ethaninosente on September 4, 2011 in Personal

It was the late evening of Tuesday when Jeman of Orange Magazine TV posted in the FB group wall. As always, I’ll read the requirements first before signing up, good thing thou that the requirements was just a professional camera only. So I signed up without hopes that I’ll be the chosen one (haha what a word), After few minutes, Jeman pinged me, asking if I’m available by tomorrow’s event, I instantly replied yes then asked for the details. He said it will start in the morning that’s why I was cool with it until I saw the duration of  the event, O-Ow, I think I’m gonna be sleeping again in my training hehe. I already said yes and I’m not going to take it back hehe! Jeman is Jeman, I don’t know the guy that long but for sure his events are that ostentatious to be respected by other bloggers.

Jeman Villanueva

In preparation to that, I pulled out my battery packs for my Olympus e520 and started charging them all at the same time, I’ve picked up a comfortable jeans and a neat of top to partner it with, and let’s not forget my trusted back pack that contains my pentel pen and handy dandy notebook (for taking down notes just incase)
It was almost 2 that time and forsure it’s going to be a long day for me that’s why I sneaked in to my bed afterwards.

It’s already pass seven in the morning and I’m already on my way to Ocean Park, I know I’ll be too early but you can never be too sure what lies ahead. So, I was waiting at the bus station when he sms me that the schedule will be move one hour late, i felt relieve and happy cause I can relax much when I travel, it’s better than being late (tsk, tsk).  10AM came and the event started, I was starstruck with all the candidates, there was ms Cory Quirino (host of The good life with Cory Quirino), Dr. Eric T (head manager of Zenyu Eco Spa) and lastly all the gorgeous candidates of Ms. World. My bet is candidate #1 and candidate#16.

We had a tour in the Hotel H2o, which by the way I highly recommend for everyone especially for health lovers because of their negative ION. Going back, Dr. Eric toured us together with the candidates inside the aquarium hotel, the Oceanarium which is really amazing, I never thought that it can be that beautiful compared to my other experience in Singapore , and lastly my favorite part was lunch, it’s not because I get to eat all the food that I want but it’s because I had a small talk with Jeman. At first, I thought Jeman was a snobbish guy (peace!) but I was wrong! (I’m not but kissing guys, hehe) he was a down to earthguy he even shared me his experiences when he was starting as a blogger. One thing that sink into my mind is, always put a personal touch when you blog, don’t let yourself enjoy so much in events cause if you do, your identity as a blogger fades away. Touching isn’t it? but it’s true. Lately I’ve been attending so much events that my body couldn’t even handle, I’m getting chills and fever that’s why I stopped signing up for events and rested for a week instead. Now, that I’m feeling a little better. It’s time to trackdown back logs. Sorry boss! Je! I  know  I haven’t posted this past few weeks! but I’ll make it up to you!

Overcome Bulimia

Posted by ethaninosente on August 25, 2011 in Personal

Having knowledge about nursing  is fun, you understand when doctors and nurses talk when they’re doing there rounds the hospital. My favorite part in nursing is psych that majorly talks about mental health and mental disorders, moreover I learn and was able to recognize correctly what I have suffered ever since I was High School. No one knows in my family and friends that I had bulimia, it was hard every time I wake in the morning, I see an ugly fat boy but the truth is i was just 110lbs that time (ow! that image was so disturbing, I can still remember it until now), it’s really terrifying but it’s okay, I’m already over it before I even step in my senior years in college. It was really a tough battle and my concerned friends had a hard time monitoring my weight when I throw tantrums, I remember that they even spend 2 hours with me during meal time to prevent me from binge eating and purging. It was really though but definitely it worked, my therapy lasted for almost a semester but I was happy with the outcome.

RunawayBlogger at the Gym

Today, I’m proud to say that I’m already running at 140lbs and just sweating those unwanted pounds off this body and not considering purging as an option to lose weight. I hope my story inspired you or anyone out there who has suffered the same and the only advice that I can give you is accepting that there is really a problem will always be the first step in finding a solution to that problem.

Zero acne face before working

Posted by ethaninosente on August 23, 2011 in Beauty

I just signed another contract with Telus (A BPO company that provides internet connection in Canada) and the enthusiasm that I have faded away into so-so ambivalence. Finding out that I’ll be assigned in Telus Araneta, which I’m more nearer compared to Telus Taguig, is a little dramatic but convenient for me at the same time, the reason why I’m feeling this way is because of my previous ex-partner who I shared my life for three years also works in that building and i’m not ready yet to see her this soon, Arghhhh! what a very frustrating, chaotic situation this is. I think because of this, my body started to grow microcomedones more commonly know as zits, acne, and pimples. The last time I remember I had these things crawling all over my face and my back is way back in high school but in college I rarely encounter them.  Having zits is really a problem, it’s a good thing that the  derm clinic I patronize is still open until now 8 in the evening. Not only it’s open in my convenient hours, it’s also still affordable, will you believe the, extraction, the massage, the check ups and the laser plus the cream that closes the pores only cost me 250php all in all, amazing isn’t it?

Facial treatment

I can now secure a zero-acne face whenever I go to the office or having those unexpected encounter with your ex haha! just kidding, but yeah! I mean it that way, I’ll show her what she’s missing after breaking up with me haha!

Gaga’s Latest single

Posted by ethaninosente on August 19, 2011 in Music

Last August 16, Gaga’s latest video for You and I was release in Youtube and already reached a whooping 5.1 million views in just 3 days! (Awesome!) Now, we all know that Lady Gaga is best in expressing herself through her videos, right? I did a little research using my best friend Mr. G. (Google) and this is what I’ve found out. The guy sitting on top of the piano is Gaga’s male alter ego, Jo Calderone and the mermaid is Yuyi, who was first seen when Gaga performed Edge of Glory on Le Grand Journal.

I’ve included Gaga’s latest video, so enjoy!
